Abstract
Whole health is a form of health treatment that encompasses a holistic approach to supporting health and well-being. In order to identify gaps of coverage/knowledge in the community, we worked to conduct background research about the community’s awareness, involvement, and engagement with whole health. This background research was then channeled into a survey distributed to students, veterans, healthcare workers, and other community members in order to collect data about the prevalence of whole health practices and overall wellness. This survey was about 30 minutes (50 question long qualtrics survey) and assessed to what degree participants engaged in whole health practices as well as how they self assess their overall health and wellness in 8 areas – physical activity, physical/emotional surroundings, personal development, nutrition, sleep/rest, relationships with others, spirituality, and healing the mind. During the few months the survey was open, we collected both qualitative and quantitative data via the survey. The quantitative data will be statistically analyzed through R studio software while the qualitative data will be examined and organized through qualtrics. Through these results and analysis, we will be able to identify the needs of the community in regards to whole health and wellness. Based on these identified needs, we will be able to help promote whole health practices and awareness throughout the community. Based on the data we have already analyzed in R studio, we have identified physical/sensory environments as an area to focus on promoting to the community. In efforts to promote healthy physical environments, another UROP student and I created a project where we donated succulent plants to students on campus in order to promote green spaces within physical environments for students.
