Abstract
The cell card knowledgebase CellCards seeks to systematically classify and define individual cell types, cell connectomes, and functional tissues while displaying various information types to the users. Novel in its representation of information, knowledge collection, and description of each cell type, CellCards can be integrated and utilized in a myriad of programs. Following the project’s extraction, transformation, and loading design pipeline, the main goal is to eventually populate the CellCards database with an immense array of cells from both the Cell Line Ontology and Cell Ontology automatically. This process is done by designing and utilizing Python code that embeds SPARQL and MySQL, in which SPARQL is used to retrieve such cells, and MySQL is, in turn, used to load the information into the database. Progress has been made on the extraction, where several SPARQL queries were designed by other group members and myself to retrieve the necessary data to load into the MySQL server. A Python script that loads and injects such information into the database was designed, in which a separate MySQL server was created for testing purposes. With such an ambitious project and unexplored ontology-based approach, the successful implementation of CellCards will have an immensely positive impact on the scientific community, aiding in research by providing the researchers with comprehensive information in a user-friendly way.
