Abstract

The Lens of Motherhood is a program that aspires to provide financial , mental, doula ,and parental assistance for mothers. There are a plethora of projects stemming from the Lens of Motherhood program: the fatherhood program which designed to do the same things but is focused around fathers to give them the same support and assistance they need and the Nurturing Roots program, which allowed mothers to express their journey in art and photography form but also receive assistance and support as well. One of the main purposes of the creations of these projects was to allow mothers and fathers to have the support they need to prosper in their journey as parents and to know they have support when needed. The other purpose is to allow mothers to have a healing space to deal with their postpartum depression and to have a support group to help them along in this journey. Finally, the key purpose of this space is to allow parents the opportunity to rejuvenate and find balance between their personhood and parenting.
