Abstract

This project aims to lay the groundwork for what aspects go into designing Professor Strassmann’s faculty website titled Strassmann Lab. The website is for anthropological research on the Dogon people of Mali, especially the developmental origins of health and disease in this population. The website features a cohesive color palette throughout with a retro look that ensures the website works as intended on all device types, such as laptops, phones, and tablets. Key features include a user-friendly research page that displays the multiple research areas, a publication page that exemplifies the ample amount of research done, and easy navigation to grasp the information better. The website also includes the people who have worked on projects in the Strassmann Lab and biographical information on the professor. Included are the teams based in Mali, who were key in gathering data for the Lab, and the university students who used their knowledge to answer research questions using the data. Users will be able to access an informative, easy-to-navigate, anthropology website that adheres to user-friendly and logical design practices. The website was built using the design prototype of the web application Figma and will be accessed on WordPress. These two tools are crucial in designing an engaging experience for users to explore and be informed about the Dogon people.
