Abstract
his project focuses on developing a research website for Dr. Beverly Strassmann, designed to make her groundbreaking work more accessible to a wider audience. As the co-designer and developer, I worked to create a WordPress-based platform that balances user engagement, accessibility, and functionality. The primary challenge was ensuring the website was both visually appealing and easy to navigate for diverse users, which required integrating user experience (UX) design and accessibility principles. We met this challenge by using Figma to design and refine prototypes that emphasized simplicity, intuitive navigation, and inclusivity. Feedback from Dr. Strassmann was incorporated throughout the iterative process to ensure the site met the needs of both academic and general audiences. The final product translates complex research into an approachable and engaging format, expanding its reach and impact. This experience highlighted the importance of harmonizing technical development with design priorities and demonstrated the value of collaboration in achieving a shared vision. The resulting website serves as a model for how thoughtful design and accessible technology can bring academic research to a broader community, fostering greater understanding and engagement.
