Abstract

The delivery method of lectures in the higher education system in the United States has not changed for decades. Recently, the pandemic has led to a rise in a new delivery method – online learning. It has many pros and cons; some of them may have the potential to improve the overall quality of lectures. In this study, we are investigating the effect of the anonymity of asking questions during lectures on students’ sense of belongingness. Data is collected from lectures in both the control group and the experiment group throughout the semester. A quantitative and qualitative analysis will be performed on the data in the hope to reveal the positive differences between the control group and the experiment group. The project is ongoing so there are no results or conclusions to offer at this time.
