Abstract

Whole health is an integrative model focused on self-care for veterans, consisting of 8 areas in life, including moving the body, surroundings, personal development, food and drink, recharge, relationships (family, friends, and coworkers, spirit, and soul, and power of the mind. This project seeks to identify gaps in whole health knowledge that have not been further researched. This information on students, veterans, and healthcare providers can be used to create better healthcare practices regarding veterans as well as ways to make whole health practices more accessible. To investigate this, a survey was created using research-based questions using sources such as PubMed from the University of Michigan library database system. The survey was tested by a sample size of about 25 college students for validity as well as accuracy using Qualtrics, a survey creation software. After testing, the survey was distributed nationwide to students, healthcare workers, and veterans. Data was collected from the final survey, with around 200 participants. Once the data collection period ended, the data was analyzed using statistical software (SPSS) and Rstudio for quantitative analysis. After analysis, an implementation project focused on increasing access to art therapy for college students was created and deployed. This work will further improve understanding and ability to improve whole health as a system of change.
