Abstract
My project was primarily focused on using Whole Health principles to improve the lives of college students. Whole Health has been proven to be effective with Veterans but has not been fully embraced by other populations. Promoting Whole Health among college students is critically important because they are just starting to launch their independent lives and build the habits that will follow for the rest of their lives. College students are also a critically important group to spread the messages of Whole Health to because they have more time to benefit from any lifestyle changes they make. In order to determine the best way to bring Whole Health to college students, we created a Qualtrics survey which we sent out. We ultimately obtained almost 200 responses. We took the data from the survey questions and performed statistical analysis on it using the online software R studio. Although we are still currently working on this analysis, my idea for how to incorporate the idea is to start a Jump Rope club at U of M as it seems that many people do not do high-intensity exercise nearly as much as low intensity exercise upon first glance at the data. In order to narrow this gap and create a community centered around enjoying high-intensity exercise, I am working on bringing jump rope and double dutch to U of M, as the university does not currently have a student organization for either of these sports. Overall, our research is valuable because it allows us to make educated decisions regarding what are the most effective ways to bring Whole Health to students, in a way that they don’t already have access to.
