Abstract
The aim of this project is to establish an archival excavation database for the site of Ayia Irini, which is located on the Cycladic island of Kea in Greece. This site was excavated in the 1960s and 1970s by an international team of archaeologists who took many photographs of it, including pots, tools, and even pieces of statues. This database uses the program known as FileMaker, which allows multiple different photographs to be entered into the database, with the plan allowing scholars to access these documents for their research. Each database entry includes a brief description of the image, the year it was found, and the name of the discoverer, if this information is provided in the original photograph. The original excavation photos from the 1960s and 70s help support the argument that the town’s residents were very connected via Bronze Age communication networks. For these reasons, it is crucial that all photographs are entered into the database so researchers and the public can view the discoveries made by these archaeologists and understand why Ayia Irini is a significant part of Bronze Age history.
