Abstract

The Curating AI tools for language learning project is focused on enhancing the experience of students looking to enhance their advanced language proficiency in English. The project takes an interdisciplinary approach to this goal in two ways. First, the project seeks to improve the user experience of visitors to the U-M English Language Institute’s e-Resources website, home to a variety of language learning self-study digital resources. Second, the project endeavors to expand the volunteer curation team’s capacity to keep the e-Resources offerings current by leveraging generative AI to draft reviews of new websites and apps. This poster presentation will reveal the new e-Resources site design and will share an exploratory experiment in AI prompt engineering to more efficiently develop pedagogical reviews of potentially effective language learning tools, including those powered by generative AI.
