Abstract

BlueLink Anatomy is a free education resource used by medical students, dental students, and undergraduate science students all around the world. As a tool, it enables students with a greater understanding of anatomy through 3D models and photos that allow students to answer guiding questions to deepen their understanding of the material. The team takes scans or 360-degree photos of the desired anatomical body part that was focused on that day and uploads the images to the computer. Once images get edited and approved they are uploaded to a website where insightful questions can be associated with the anatomical part. The final product is presented on the “BlueLink,” which is accessible to anyone. This work has fostered the creation of a virtual lab known as XR, which is an experience for medical/dental school students that enhances their understanding of the material for free. Students can now achieve a greater understanding of anatomical dissections when not in the lab and be familiar with core anatomical concepts presented to them. This addresses the situation of online learning through a virtual experience which includes real models and 3D scans. Students can use this in their studies to get a more developed comprehensive understanding of anatomy. This creation has changed education in anatomy for graduate and undergraduate learning by enhancing students’ knowledge of lab-based anatomy by keeping it remote and for free.
