Abstract
Pesticides are chemicals essential to public health and agriculture. Their most important use is to control and maintain insects in commercial agriculture. However, they pose many risks such as respiratory, cardiovascular, integumentary, neurological and gastrointestinal effects, while also having harmful impacts on the environment and other non-target species. This harmful exposure is especially seen in low-middle income countries such as Nepal where 66% of the population participates in agriculture. For this project, we conducted a scoping review to understand the extent of pesticide exposure in Nepal and the type of health outcomes previously studied. For this, we searched PubMed and Scopus for English sources and used the Covidence platform to exclude and include the sources that we determined relevant. We will next synthesize this information to understand which pesticides were studied, what sampling method was used, what population was studied, the geographic location within Nepal, and the health outcomes were studied.
