Abstract
My project is investigating the role of bioinformatically-derived nucleus of the solitary tract populations in the control of food intake, aversion, and sickness responses. Specifically I am slicing, staining, and mounting brain tissue of Gcg-Cre mice injected with a Cre-dependent chemo genetic activator into the NTS to validate hitsites. I will pair validated hitsites to previously conducted behavioral studies to investigate activation of NTS-Gcg neurons and regulation of food intake, aversion, and sickness.
