Abstract

Self-care, health care, and community are typically what comes to mind when considering an application of all aspects of health. However, when looking for solutions in one’s health, most traditional physicians tend to turn away from holistic approaches and focus on traditional medicine instead. Whole Health is a system of healthcare that focuses on dimensions of health represented by circles of health–community-wise, society-wise, and personally–that are all important when considering a person’s wellness. In creating a survey, the 2023-2024 Whole Health team assessed what people prioritize in their health to find holistic methods of addressing their issues with an implementation project. The survey ended with about 170 submissions so far, and the data is being analyzed using statistical programs such as R Studio. My focus is on the lack of methods that the elderly have to practice self-care, and I plan to use music and social involvement to aid with that community issue. I plan to study results oriented around surveying the emotions of those involved with my project, assessing how their emotional/mental health is impacted. Data is being analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. These ideas of focusing on individual aspects of Whole Health bring more attention to the overall idea of Whole Health while also pushing for more methods of practicing Whole Health. The social benefit to this research would be further widespread acceptance and understanding of the aspect of Whole Health, and it would benefit socioeconomically undermined or marginalized individuals.
