Recent years have witnessed an unprecedented surge of demand in data mining, i.e., analyzing massive datasets to generate new information for business decision making or scientific research. As a result, rigorous and fair assessment of data analytical skills are vital to educating our next generation of data scientists. This proposal aims to develop a new online judge (OJ) system that automatically evaluates correctness, efficiency and accuracy of code submissions, whether they are simple calculators of summary statistics or sophisticated neural nets that recognize human faces. This OJ can grade course projects or judge large data competitions, providing students with fast and comprehensive feedback on their performance. It builds an engaging and inclusive learning platform where students from diverse backgrounds can explore real datasets, experiment with new ideas and tackle modern data challenges together.
