Abstract

The lack of sex research can result in the stigmatization of sexual relations between men and women. Considering common stereotypes within the concept, we aim to examine the current population’s perception of sexual relationships. The current study explores gender differences in society’s expectations of sex and how these expectations are not in accordance with women’s sexual desires. The participant population was two introduction to psychology classes where students gained credit in class for completing studies. The participants were asked through a survey about their dating app, the likelihood that they would have sexual relations with their first match on the dating app, as well as if they would expect to have an orgasm if they had sex with their match. Within the first semester, 183 participants were run through the study. The second set of participants is yet to be finished. Since the second half of the study is still running, the results are not yet clear. It is expected that women will be as open to sexual relationships as men as long as they believe they are likely to have an orgasm with the man. The study aims to address the stereotype that women are not as sexually progressive as men.
