About

English 344.001 isn’t intended to be like most other courses.

Is it a project-based writing class? An introduction to digital journalism? A little bit of public relations and some community-based learning? At the bottom line, this innovative section (Digital Publishing for the English Community) of English 344 (Public Writing) is committed to putting together and maintaining an online platform to help build a real-world community—primarily that of English majors and minors, but also potentially including anyone who loves books, the local literary culture of Ann Arbor, and the wide world of writing and literature in general. This overarching, collective, ongoing endeavor of the students will prospectively result in a regularly updated website—this one here!—which survives beyond the Winter 2020 semester and which becomes a part of the Department of English Language & Literature’s public face. Along the way, students will explore and shine some more light on the events, people, places, and projects that help make ours such a nifty stomping ground. Students will write, edit, and in many cases, publish a variety of assignments, such as (but not limited to) biographical profiles, reflective pieces, event reporting, and book reviews. Students will also be able to create multimodal projects, pulling together different forms of communication.

So welcome to this digital domain! Please explore the site at your leisure!
