Abstract

Our creative writing and publishing project focuses not only on creating pieces of work, for our respective forms of writing, but also the meticulous process of getting that work published. Weekly workshops kept our project members on task, reflecting on the pieces of writing we created that week, and giving feedback as needed. Our mission was to learn the process of submitting our work for publication, and in order to do so, finding literary journals that we could see accepting our work for publication. Our data was collected by exploring numerous American literary journals and creating a database focused specifically on whether these individual journals met our personal criteria of submitting our work to, in order to possibly be published. We have learned about which journals publish what types of work, and the probability of them publishing the work that they receive. Our group members are still analyzing literary journals and building that database while simultaneously submitting work to those journals that we have deemed similar to our individual styles, in hopes of eventually getting published.
