Abstract
Data visualizations such as the John Hopkins COVID-19 Map, has become an impactful way of presenting updated health information to stakeholders such as policy makers and the general public. This pandemic dashboard has become a precedent for developing platforms that help provide useful information for issues with which our society is struggling. Using design thinking and participatory mapping, the WISDOM research team led by University Diversity and Social Transformation Professor Audrey Bennett aims to create an equitably accessible Wicked Solutions Domain for networked collaboration and knowledge exchange of existing data and research resources in relation to wicked problems such as food, poverty, and sustainability. Using the annotated bibliographies developed by previous researchers on this project, we have created affinity diagrams to analyze compiled resources to understand the complexity of the wicked problem and identify places to intervene in the system to bring about meaningful and measurable change. A form of submission for resources pertaining to wicked problems is currently being developed. In addition, the WISDOM research team is undergoing the ideation process of developing the first iteration website for the project based on previous work. This digital platform will enable communities, policy makers, and researchers who are combating these wicked problems. It will allow them to interact with and find already existing interventions as well as add their own to the WISDOM platform.
