Dear Me, Myself, and I,
So after spending the month of May in India being a Pre-Health Intern at Columbia Asia Hospital in Bangalore, you’re back. And ready to kick butt and chew bubblegum with your project in the WAGSFP. But what do you hope to gain out of it? Well, as a rising senior with a Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience major currently working on a Psychology and Media Studies-based research project, you can just smell a senior honors thesis in the making with publication being the dream, especially in a research journal beyond the confines of your university.
The best part and the worst part about this is the freedom you have in making your project truly yours. What to add to it? More on the history of South Asian women in American and South Asian media? Or how the image of South Asian women has adapted itself overtime in the two types? It sounds like a hard process, but hopefully it will be very rewarding in the end.
You already know who you are and don’t need a single person to tell you. You’re an Indian American girl, a rising senior at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, aspiring to become a doctor, conduct research, and help others with their ailments, physical, mental, or emotional. You have a love for the really spicy and really sweet, in food and in life experiences. While recent memories regarding your trip to India have been a whirlwind of emotions – frustration, confusion, fear – you’re keeping your chin up for the future. So whether you’ll be facing off against your final year in college, going to medical school, or doing some other exciting activity in the future, good luck and kudos.
