I am happy to say that my work this summer has gone very smoothly, and that I have easily worked through my previous anticipations and doubts. From reading over my work in the first few weeks, I know that I was nervous to be able to handle learning from scratch and working full time on a project where I was not as experienced as the others. However, this pushed me to take things seriously and approach this summer as a learning and growing experience, a mindset that helped me to successfully complete all my tasks and make connections with my peers. My biggest challenge that I faced was adapting to working online for full time hours, without getting distracted or sidetracked, but I think that I have successfully managed it. I was empowered this summer by knowing that writing my Manuscript and publishing the work my peers have worked on would not only help them to finish a three year long project, but also to make a difference in the world. We hope to pass peer reviewing and publish our paper in the American Diabetes Association, which can touch many people and possibly make a difference in many peoples lives for the better. In the future, I will apply this work ethic and experience to any other projects that I may work on, so I can continue to grow and learn new skills. I know this opportunity has made me a better professional, and I can’t wait to see where life takes me next with this new knowledge! I am incredibly grateful to have had worked on this team and I had a great time this summer learning from my mentor and peers!
