My name is Said Al-Jazaeri, “Fun Fact, Said means happy in Arabic” I am originally from Syria. I moved to the U.S. to continue pursuing my educational goals in 2013. I am currently enrolled in the Dental Hygiene program at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. My goal is to apply to dental school after the completion of my hygiene degree. Getting accepted to the university of Michigan #1 school of dentistry in the nation was a dream coming true. I am very interested in helping the underserved communities that have very limited access to dental care and I try to volunteer every chance I get at one of the free clinics that we offer at the dental school or other affiliated clinics.
My favorite singer is Maher Zain, he is a Swedish/ Lebanese singer. Maher has been such an inspiration and role model for me for a long time now. Here is one my favorite Maher songs, it’s called in shaa Allah which means “God willing”. There are four versions of the song one of each of those languages, Arabic, English, French and Malay. I usually listen to this song when I feel down and I feel much better after listening to it because it reminds me that there is always hope.
My hobby outside school is to have fun and go out and try to different food. I live 30 mins away from Dearborn and I try to go there to try different middle eastern food every chance I get. One of my biggest hobby is to learn other languages, I speak Arabic and English fluently, and little bit of Spanish and French and I hope I will be able to speak both of them fluently in the near future.
