One song to describe my summer? Even though a simple request, how could one song really capture my entire summer? Shuffling through my iTunes library though, I came across an old favorite: “Same Ol’ Mistakes” by Rihanna. Rihanna’s version is actually a cover of Tame Impala’s “New Person, Same Ol’ Mistakes,” and I feel like that original title is a better fit for how I’ve grown/changed.
Every time a season changes, I come in with optimistic hopes and goals for what I want to achieve/who I want to become. Most often, I don’t break my old routines and end up feeling stuck in a rut. This summer, I made the same mistakes I usually do, but the difference is that now, I think I’m more committed to my own personal growth. I’ve finished up half of college, and the experiences I’ve had/the people I’ve met have motivated me to make serious changes in my life come fall. The future feels much nearer now and I don’t wanna keep making the same ol’ mistakes.
