Dear Me from 10 weeks prior,
Look at you! As per usual, this fellowship felt way too short, like with most good things in life. Moreover, you set off to accomplish quite a bit this summer, and while you were able to get quite a bit done in terms of your research and medical school applications, that doesn’t mean other things stop moving or that you should only pursue the usual activities a pre-med student should do.
Secondaries will be finishing up soon in August. Moreover, those gap year opportunities are looking mighty interesting; don’t even attempt to leave those on the table cause you never know what’ll happen in the future. You aren’t a fortune teller and good things come to those that put in the effort.
Anyways, throughout this summer and beyond this fellowship, there has been a sense of changing and looking at new perspectives from all the fellows and UROP mentors you’ve come across. Never forget the experiences they shared with you; carrying those in the interests you have can further develop them. And keep in touch with them; they’re all pretty cool people at the end of the day.
You’re a few steps closer to getting through your senior honors thesis, but the brunt of the work will still have to be done through the school year. This comes with doing medical interviews at other schools as well….so good luck. You’ll make it.
Regards to yours only,
Me right now.
