Hi everyone! My name is Olivia Jayakar and I am currently a WAGSFP fellow. I am a rising senior majoring in Women’s and Gender Studies. I also minor in CASC (Community Action and Social Change) and IGR (Intergroup Relations Education). After being in UROP Changing Gears this past school year, my interest in research has grown. The project I am working on this summer is focused on reducing stress in sexual and gender minorities of color.
I am so excited to be a part of this fellowship! It has been a bit challenging to sit in front of my laptop at home all day, especially with this beautiful summer weather, but it is worth it for the experience and everything I am learning. The past week and a half I have been reading a lot of academic literature about similar types of stress reduction techniques that the lab I am in is researching. I also have been reviewing the studies manuals so that I can soon play a more “hand on” role in the research!
I can’t wait to share my experiences this summer with you all.
Thank you for reading 🙂
