After being halfway through my research, I have come to realize the importance of patience and deep consideration in the research process. Since most of my responsibilities lie in searching through publicly available information I often come across roadblocks since much of the timeframe I have to look into didn’t have a lot of presence on the internet. However, when I find the information I am looking for, I have the satisfying feeling of putting puzzle pieces together. Additionally, I am focusing on a literature review to present at the Symposium. My literature review will focus on identity based appeals for South Asian female political candidates. Reading through various texts has been a rewarding experience since this topic is not as explored as other identity-based topics. As a South Asian woman myself, I find myself surprised by the information that I have not come across before and it reminds me of how diverse the South Asian diaspora is. I hope to continuously test my expectations and have a thoughtful product to deliver at the Symposium.
