Hello Future Self,
You are currently enjoying the summer and all of the things it has to offer. You have been soaking up the sun at the lake and spending time outdoors on the weekends to balance your life outside of work. At this point, you have just now finished the second week of your research project: Preventing HIV/STI Among Urban Adolescents via a mHealth Primary Care Intervention. You are thrilled to get started!
My expectations for this summer are to learn a lot and to produce something that contributes to further research. I also am looking forward to growing a relationship with my mentor and lab as well as my fellow peers in the WAGSFP program. I am expecting to encounter some challenges because this summer I will be utilizing skills that I have yet to learn. This project will force me out of my comfort zone while learning a lot and gaining useful skills that are needed for future improvements in my research. For example, I will be using SPSS and working with data sets to produce new information and findings. My previous research experiences with community-engaged research and different risk behavior topics have prepared me well for the topics I am diving into this summer. I have built a strong foundation of knowledge on these topics and even passion along the way so I am looking forward to continuing this. Traditional UROP and Research scholars were great to me and I know WAGSFP will be as well. Good luck future self!
Best Wishes,
Rebecca
