My name is Madison Taylor and I am a Junior at the University of Michigan studying psychology, with a minor in Gender and Health. I am currently working on a research project studying the effectiveness of a diabetes stigma training module on health care providers, which can improve patients care and comfort when managing their health. If successful, this video may be published to the American Diabetes Organization, touching the lives of health professionals and patients alike! This is my first research experience in which I utilize a mixed methods approach, as well as draft my own manuscript to be published, so I am excited to learn new things and gain new skills throughout the summer. I hope that this experience makes me a well rounded professional, so that I can transfer this knowledge to new opportunities this project and my future goals may hold. This is also my first experience working a full time job related to my field of study and I hope to have a better idea to what my career holds and what my daily life will look like by the end of the summer! Due to starting on this project while it has already been started, I think that I will have some difficulty understanding the process and what my expectations are until I get more familiar with the content. Additionally, because I am learning new topics/skills I hope that I will be able to catch on quickly and further my team’s progress in the study. I am a strong writer, proficient at time management, and am a great public speaker, which I think will lend well into the project and make me a valuable asset to the team. Even though things may be difficult, I will take time to figure it out and will not quit until it is completed to the best of my ability!
