Hi everyone!! My name is Eva, I am a rising senior at the University of Michigan, double majoring in Psychology and Women and Gender Studies. I am currently working on the first study of my senior thesis, which examines the impact of sexual abuse on sexual desire, with a particular focus on the gender discrepancy observed in desire.
During WAGSFP, I hope to deepen my understanding of the existing literature on this topic, analyze data sets for gender differences in desire, and complete the introduction section of my thesis. I am also looking forward to presenting my results at the end of the program! It has been a year since I last presented research, so I am excited to do that again.
I feel very fortunate to enter this experience with a mentor I have worked with for three years, Dr. Terri Conley. I previously contributed to another research project on desire two years ago, which I thoroughly enjoyed, so I am eager to return to this topic. Although I bring some prior knowledge from past research, working on a project this independent is a new experience for me. One of the biggest challenges I anticipate will be managing a self-directed schedule, which is quite different from what I am used to. However, this is also very exciting because it will be the first time I can dedicate all my energy to research 😀
