Dear Future Self,
The opportunity to participate in the Women and Gender Studies Fellowship Program (WAGSFP) is one that I am looking forward to with nervous anticipation. While I am eager to continue the research that I started during my freshman year, I am slightly unsure about how I will adjust to the more rigorous environment. Right now, my primary concerns are avoiding procrastination on my research hours and maintaining excellent communication with all necessary figures. I find that organization isn’t really problematic for me, or even making schedules, its sticking to them. I hope to overcome these challenges and be left with a solid footing for the upcoming school year.
Aside from research though, my summer is filled with a variety of smaller goals that I hope to achieve. I continuously strive for self-improvement, an aspect of my personality, and I hope to make some headway in the personal arena. Some of these goals include:
- Maintain a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise
- Regularly consume vitamins
- Be very comfortable with Ann Arbor streets, directions by exploring the city
- Read two books per month
- Get outside everyday
- Build resume, revamp
- Build profiles on Handshake, UCAN, LinkedIn, LSA Hub
- Create a social media presence (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat)
- Write about life, politics, anything, just write
- Land internship on campaign
I hope that by the conclusion of the summer that I will be able to say I accomplished some of what I set out to do.
Sincerely,
Pragya Thakur

I really liked that you set goals for yourself! I am sure you can complete them all!
Thanks for your words of encouragement!
Hi Pragya! Thanks for sharing! I liked that your list focused not only on professional skills but also self-care. I also forget to take my vitamins! Any idea of what books you’d like to read over the summer?
Honestly, I’d love to read the political books that get so much press, but I seldom read, like A Higher Loyalty by James Comey. But, I’d also love to read the classics that are on my bucket list, like Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy.
