Personally, whenever I get asked about who I am, I get filled with existentialist dread. I’m not really sure if there is a good reason for this emotion, but, upon reflection, I think it comes from my desire to continually change myself and aspire to be a better, different version of myself. I think there is a disconnect between who I am currently and who I would like to be. However, I think that you can learn a lot from a person based on their interests and, at the moment, the following information would describe me.
Professionally and educationally, I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor who just finished my freshman year. This summer I am completing research by analyzing lobbying in state legislatures since the 1920s and possibly other professional development activities. I hope to graduate with a B.A. and honors in some combination of political science, economics, and foreign policy. Afterwards, I aspire to attend a top tier law school to attain a J. D., possibly with a joint M. B. A. Then, I’d like to clerk for the Supreme Court of the United States and gradually work my way up to being partner at a major private law firm. Along the way. I would like to assemble advocacies for domestic causes, foreign policy credentials, and write/publish a few books. Eventually, I seek to enter politics at the national level and contribute to our political zeitgeist.
During my time as an undergrad, I’d love to take advantage of the study abroad opportunities available to me. I don’t have much travel experience and would love to remedy that fact. In particular, I’d love to backpack through Europe and explore the Middle East, each being regions that fascinate me.
I think my musical tastes would probably tell you the most about my inconsistent and albeit neurotic self, so, on the music front, I think that it’s worth noting that for the first twelve years of my life, I believed that I hated music. Most of my exposure had come from my parents’ generation of Indian music and pop songs played at school, so I didn’t realize that I wasn’t listening to music suited to my tastes. That being sad, I absolutely adore ‘90s punk rock music, today’s alternative tracks, and generally faster-paced songs (with some exceptions). Here’s a list of artists I love to give an accurate representation of my tastes since I don’t think that I could pick a favorite: Yellowcard, We The Kings, Tegan and Sara, Switchfoot, The Smiths, Taylor Swift, Rilo Kiley, Simple Plan, Green Day, Breaking Benjamin, Blink-182, Bowling for Soup, Paramore, Coldplay, Panic!
