The process has been in full swing. I anticipate, as a first in a while, that I will continue to develop significant divisions among the concerns in my life past the end of this two-month experience. The division that has recently been weighing on my mind is that between my intellectual (I think I can say that more confidently now, no matter the high-brow, segmented connotations of the word) life and my personal life. I would like to be able to exceed the circumstance of the one affecting the other; to be able to successfully climb into the space in which one, always, evades those hindrances to potential productivity. For my future; for the profession that I will stake out for at least three dimensions of myself: the intellectual, the personal, my appreciation for the beautiful.
Honesty
When one unmasks, no matter how many attempts until the one motion that counts, the fear of failure as culprit to uncertainly explosive paths (it’s currently the fourth of July as I write this) and slow-motion exploration before the first steps have even latched on, what was once subtle becomes a thing that you can keep yourself away from taking naps in. In short, what I have come to appreciate about this program is the lengths it allows for one to test their limits through that entity called “research”; and free of charge, so to speak. I recognize that I am my own teacher in a sense, my only teacher.
The Power of “One”
When I can generalize the particular and understand my experiences in those of others, then I am stepping on ground that provides a certain power. To understand how the individual validities of experience primarily come through the hard work of figuring them out, and through connecting with others.
