So far, I have really enjoyed my experience with UROP. I’m so grateful to be a part of this experience. The cohort seems enthusiastic about sharing, and I think we try to take many opportunities to bond. My mentor is great overall. My project came along very quickly, and she’s helped me all along the way. I’m glad to be able to network and explore new possibilities.
I’ve been to 2 brown bags so far and have scheduled 2 more to go to. I think that they all have been interesting and relevant in some way. I think this was a really cool way to connect with professionals, and learn how different people articulate the research process. Plus, brown-bagging is always useful.
I wish some of the seminars were a little more useful. I think most of them were cool, but I did feel like there were so many more opportunities that could’ve been taken advantage of with that time. I will saw though that it was kind of nice knowing that some of them were low-pressure, in a sense.
I’m just really looking forward to culminating the summer. It’s been great and I can’t wait to look back and say “hey, I did that, and with some awesome people, too.” I’ve never done a symposium before, so it’ll be really awesome to have that experience.
