WAGSFP Profile

[su_heading size=”20″]Hello fellow WAGSFP fellows and beyond! Now that you’ve seen my goals for this summer, let me tell you a little more about who I am…[/su_heading]

As I mentioned before, I hail from the tiny town of Sheridan, Michigan. My favorite part of my hometown is its proximity to nature. While I was growing up, I got to raise ducklings, turtles, and a nest of baby birds. This year, there is a den of baby bunnies in our yard! I just love being able to walk for miles without having to worry about traffic or construction.

This is what a rabbit nest looks like for those who have never seen one

While it changes often, currently my favorite movie is Fight Club. Google captures the premise of the movie fairly well with their plot summary: [su_quote]”A depressed man (Edward Norton) suffering from insomnia meets a strange soap salesman named Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) and soon finds himself living in his squalid house after his perfect apartment is destroyed. The two bored men form an underground club with strict rules and fight other men who are fed up with their mundane lives.”[/su_quote] I definitely recommend this movie (and book!) to anyone who likes thrillers. The end will blow your mind.

My favorite book is The Giver by Lois Lowry. I first read this book in fourth grade, and I have reread the series at least five times since then. This dystopian novel is set in a society where all pain, fear, war, and hatred have been eliminated. Choice has also been eliminated. Citizens are assigned careers, spouses, and children. The Giver centers around Jonas, who is assigned the job of The Receiver and must hold the memories of war, hatred, etc that everyone else will never know. While this is only scratching the surface of an amazing plot, I hope you will check this book out and love it as much as I did!

I’m half Italian, so naturally my favorite food is my grandma’s lasagna. I also love picnic lunches. You can usually catch me eating my lunch on a blanket outside the Dana Building. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to explore more of Ann Arbor this summer! Well, now that you know my favorite book, movie, and food, hopefully you feel like you know me more as a person.

Catch you later!

-Sam

  1. Hi Sam! Thanks for sharing! I have never seen Fight Club but I think I’ll add it to my summer watch list!

The Giver is a fantastic book. I love pretty much all dystopian novels I’ve come across. I just finished Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin and its an interesting sci-fi take on gender and society.

    Thanks again for sharing!
