WAGSFP Profile

Hi everyone! My name is Rhianna! I’m going to be a junior here at Michigan and I’m majoring in psychology and minoring in Spanish (and hopefully history!). When I’m not here at school, I call Washington, DC home. While I’m glad to be missing DC heat this summer, I loved growing up there. At home, besides my high school friends, I have my mom, dad, sister, and my dog. My dog’s name is Passion, and we joke that she is my favorite family member. My sister is 15. She’s very different than me. However, we both love listening and playing music. I play piano, and used to sing a capella and choir in high school (and briefly in the Michigan Women’s Glee Club). I aggressively sing in the shower. I’m also constantly listening to music. My taste is a mix of folk, alternative, and (don’t judge) country, though I also like some classic rock and modern pop.

I can’t describe myself without talking about running. I fell in love with it my freshman year of high school and never stopped. Outside of school, MRun (the Michigan Running Club) is the biggest thing in my life at Michigan, and most of my close friends are on the team. You might see us running around Ann Arbor this summer.

Though running is my sport, I also played basketball for all of high school and am a bit obsessed. I’ve been enthusiastically watching all of the NBA semis and finals. I also just love being in nature. I love hiking and backpacking, especially in the mountains. Traveling in general is something I really enjoy. My dream destination is Machu Picchu (my love of history meets my loves of hiking and traveling!), but I want to go everywhere. Though I want to travel the world, road trips with friends are also super fun and an adventure. When I travel, I take a lot of photos, too. Though I don’t have as much time for it as I’d like, I’m into photography.

To briefly touch on career, my current goal is to earn a PhD in Clinical Psychology. At first I was interested because I wanted to do therapy, but now that I’ve been doing research, I love that side of it, too. Either way, I’m incredibly passionate about improving the lives of those suffering from mental illness.

I’m not good at summarizing, so I figure I’d cut myself off and end with some more, random, facts about myself. I’m vegetarian, Jewish, pickles are my favorite food, my favorite show is How I Met Your Mother, I’m terrible at technology, my guilty pleasure is the Bachelor(ette), and I like to read.
