[su_heading size=”19″ margin=”60″]Majority of the time I am alone in front of a computer or reading in the library. Sometimes it is difficult to concentrate because it is up to me to keep myself accountable for all the work I must complete, which is why I try to do something out of my comfort level to entertain myself and not get off track. Even though my day as a researcher may seem repetitive, I learn something new each day and have created valuable memories through pictures and videos to record this incredibly opportunity that has opened so many doors for me to take back home to the students at my university.[/su_heading]

Chicana Por Mi Raza Project – Research Trip to Milwaukee

While I was scanning Tess Arena’s documents, I came across a collection of poems from women of color published in a book called “Winter Nest.” While I was reading some the poems, I suddenly got tears in my eyes when I read Daisy Cubias poem because this was the first time I experienced reading about the activist work of a Salvadoran women who was politically active and involved during the 60’s and 70’s.
