Reflecting on my first post, I can truthfully say that I did land a position at a positive environment. I think that this experience could have been a lot more negative if I worked somewhere else. Whether or not I continue my employment here I am very glad that I got to meet the great people that I did.
Overall the work that I did for my UROP project was similar to my last project in the way that I was analyzing survey answers. Aside from that it was very different. I saw the analysis through from start to finish instead of finishing the work of my PI. I also did a qualitative project instead of quantitative. I did not get the results I was expecting, but I enjoyed seeing the project through. I’m also very grateful to have a gotten an introduction to R Studio coding which is something that I didn’t expect to get out of this experience.
Aside from working on the Harmony project I got to work with the lab on other projects including ones that had participants in the lab. My favorite part of this experience was definitely getting to network with grad students that were apart of a placebo project. Working in this lab has really made me consider a future in a research based career. I will definitely used the networking skills I learned to further explore this idea.
Being apart of WAGSFP made me feel empowered as a whole. I feel a lot more confident in my abilities to shape a career/life that is right for me. I know that I can try things and move on when they don’t work. I know that I can ask for help or advice when I need it. Overall I have learned a lot about both the field of research and myself. My advice for future WAGSFP fellows would be to not be afraid of trying new things and being in new situations because you never know what you could get out of it. Life is about experience and I am glad that I got to experience this.

I am proud of you April!
