Print Culture

This section of our digital exhibition features printed and mass-disbursed materials from the early to mid-19th century that circulated knowledge about reproductive rights and women’s dress. The first item is Charles Knowlton’s book called Fruits of Philosophy. The other items are pieces of sheet music by William Dressler and James Kinsella. These printed materials are united by their authors’ challenges to societal and gender norms during the long movement for women’s rights.
