GreenPlatter – Barger Leadership Institute Student Voices

GreenPlatter

By Yeyang Zhang

The world can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to managing health in today’s
fast-paced life. At a time when many face challenges in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, we
founded GreenPlatter with a simple goal in mind: to empower diabetic patients to take control of
their diets in a convenient, data-driven way. At first, it seemed like a daunting task, but by
focusing on small wins and practical solutions, we realized that even modest steps could lead to
significant impact. We started where we were, with just an idea to make nutritious food
accessible and manageable for everyone, and have been working toward turning this vision into
a reality.
We were fortunate to receive a BLI grant, which has been instrumental in helping us update the
MVP version of our app and consult with professional nutritionists and healthcare providers.
This support allowed us to refine our platform’s AI-powered features, making personalized
recipe recommendations even more accurate and beneficial for our users. Part of our goal has
been to follow BLI’s principle of “Collect, Combine, Create.” By starting small, we’ve been able
to gather valuable insights from experts, combine our passion for healthcare with innovative
technology, and create a platform that can truly make a difference in the lives of diabetic
patients.
Through the grant, we were also able to align with BLI’s mission of fostering leadership and
initiating change. GreenPlatter’s mission is to transform food habits and improve health
outcomes, one recipe at a time. We’re grateful for the opportunity to put our ideas into action
and to be a part of a community that values growth through small, impactful steps. With this
support, we’re taking important strides toward making healthy eating accessible to more people
and empowering individuals to lead healthier lives.
