The Southeast Asia Mixer brought five Southeast Asian communities together for a vibrant night
of culture, connection, and friendly competition. With more than 90 guests in attendance, the
room was filled with Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malaysian, Thai, and Singaporean students and
friends eager to showcase their heritage and learn from one another.
The evening began with country presentations, where each organization shared highlights of
their culture, history, and traditions. Guests listened, laughed, and took notes, knowing that the
knowledge would soon be tested. The energy shifted into game mode with a Jeopardy-style
quiz based entirely on the presentations, sparking spirited cheering as teams raced to answer
questions first.
To keep everyone engaged, every participant received a “passport” filled with questions about
each country. Attendees moved around the room, talking to different organizations to “stamp”
their passports by finding the right answers. This interactive twist turned cultural learning into a
fun scavenger hunt. By the end of the night, Indonesia took home the Jeopardy win, but every
country left with something more important: new friendships and a stronger, more united
Southeast Asian community on campus.
