Corporate Trek Chicago 2025

By Kelly Linart

On March 28th, 2025, Phi Gamma Nu successfully organized a professional trek to Chicago,
providing over 40 students the chance to visit top companies, engage with Michigan alumni, and
gain firsthand insight into day-to-day operations and recruitment processes. As Vice President
of External, I had the opportunity to coordinate this event, which aimed to foster leadership and
growth among participants, while also expanding the network of driven individuals passionate
about pursuing business-related careers.

The trek spanned two days, during which we visited leading consulting and marketing firms,
learning from leaders about their growth journeys and the qualities required to thrive in dynamic
roles. This experience allowed students to engage directly with professionals, ask questions,
and embrace challenges that may arise while traveling. Through this trek, participants not only
gained valuable industry knowledge but also developed a deeper understanding of what it takes
to succeed in the corporate world.

Planning the trek was not without its challenges. Coordinating schedules with busy
professionals, managing a tight budget, and balancing the commitments of students and faculty
required effective communication and adaptability. We faced setbacks when certain visit
opportunities did not align with our timing, but by remaining resilient and continuously adjusting
plans, we ultimately crafted an itinerary that offered meaningful and enriching experiences for all
attendees. Additionally, ensuring that 44 students stayed on time and organized required a
strong team effort and clear, consistent communication throughout the event.

As a sophomore, I am committed to leaving a lasting impact on our organization and the
emerging leaders within it. I plan to take the lessons learned from this trek, especially in time
management and teamwork, into the planning of the New York Corporate Trek in Fall 2025. By
reflecting on the process and strengthening our communication networks, I look forward to
continuing to create opportunities for growth and learning within our community.
