Besides Tia’s awesome seminar, I would have to say my favorite was the seminar about professional writing. I find myself thinking back to it almost constantly when I’m doing my work, because I’ve always been extremely passionate about writing, but I had not realized the breadth of fora and media to which it applied.
I’ve never been much for social media writing, but when we talked about data visualization my ears definitely perked up. I immediately thought, “What?! Two of my favorite things actually fall under the same category??” I felt like I had won the professional life lottery.
Maybe this will shape how I continue my college career, and maybe it won’t. But I know for certain that it pointed out to me that it’s absolutely okay to love that creative part of my writing because it’s still a professional goal.
