Week One: That was refreshing. I’m refreshed. I’m refreshing. – Detroit Community-Engaged Research Program

Week One: That was refreshing. I’m refreshed. I’m refreshing.

Hello Beautiful,

Welcome to Detroit. Welcome to InsideOut. Welcome to the intersection of Cass st. and Forest W. You have literally no idea what the next nine-ish weeks are gonna be like. Hopefully they are so good you re-apply for the program next spring, but that’s getting a little hopeful. What you need to focus on now is working as hard as you can, and putting forth your best at work.

So far the city has been good to you, but she is a fickle beast, and one must be careful. Never let your guard down, thats when your heart gets broken. What you must do is learn as much as you can about this beautiful beast, so that when the time comes you will be prepared for that inevitable curve ball.

Anyways, how was CMA high school? Well I actually already know how it was, I was there too. It was great, you met some amazing kids, and were given the privilege of helping them with their college essay writing skills. Who knows how much of their future you will actually affect, but the fact that you could possibly affect some of it positively is pretty dope. So tomorrow when you’re in NorthWest D don’t screw up anyone’s future by accidentally changing one of their “they’re” to “theirs”. Do your absolute best because you have been given some legit responsibility, and some of these kids, for some reason, look up to you.

Now about this concert thing you’re supposed to help plan. Lets make it as DOPE as possible. You could totally be lazy, and just let it suck. Or you could get weirdly obsessed with your internship, and make it the coolest event ever put on by InsideOut. Although you probably won’t go either of these routes, try to air on the side of overly obsessed intern. Maybe invest in some really thick framed glasses to help you look the part.

Side notes, remember to do your laundry, you only have like one shirt left.

Til I see you again

Luis (Lucho) Carlos Arthur Gago
