Week 6-Metro Matters – Detroit Community-Engaged Research Program

Week 6-Metro Matters

So far I have really enjoyed this program and my placement. Working at Metro Matters has really allowed me to develop a deeper interest and understanding for my major. I am really excited to get back to Ann Arbor and utilize some of the skills, and design skills/ toolsets I have gained from working here.

This week we had a blogging workshop! Which was really useful since we write these every week. We were each asked to bring in a blog that we would want to be posted on the Metro Matters site. The blog was supposed to be based on a meeting we had gone to, or our project itself. It was nice to have the chance to reflect on a specific meeting I went to, that really helped me to understand my project better.

This week I needed to finish 3 case studies for specific designs around the world that I have studied thus far. I was also asked to put together a report on standards and policies used by the transportation services here DDOT, SMART, and the AATA. This part of the project was a bit challenging for me, only because I needed to make sure it was done perfectly, since I will be presenting it to the RTA at the end of the program.

Overall, the project is going great, but the time has been moving so fast here. I am eager to see my end results of this project, and even better yet to see if these designs are implemented in the future.
