Southwest Detroit Environmental Vision seems to me like a very behind the scenes operation of greening here in SW. Although it is a small business, I can tell they make a big impact here in the community without a lot of people knowing. For instance they have a walk to school program where they encourage children to walk to their neighborhood schools by organizing groups to walk together. This way there are less cars in the street.And a big operation they just finished was to get truck companies here in SW to buy new trucks and replace the old to be more environmentally friendly.
My project falls right into what this company is about. I get to work on the anti-idling campaign which I am mostly in charge of. I have to go through two years of research that has gone into this and get the ball rolling on this issue. I have to get into meeting with some big people here in Southwest in order to accomplish getting more awareness on the anti-idling ordinance.
I continue to be excited to continue working here in my neighborhood and will continue working hard!
