Working for SDEV has made me understand the culture of the work, the people, and organizations in Southwest.
Now yes I already knew that we are a strong community, but we are also a connected and willing community. When there is a need there is a want for help. People want their homes and neighborhoods to look nice and are willing to work for it to.
The people I work with are always willing to help to. If we get a call to report an issue, people work their hardest to get that issue solved and don’t ignore it just because their plates already full. I also really enjoy getting to learn something knew everyday. I feel like I have so little knowledge and everyone always gives me new information about Detroit or projects everyday.
Other organizations in Southwest Detroit always seem willing to do what they can too to help. As I make calls to reach out to community organizations, everyone seems to receive me with open arms.I am grateful to be working in such an accepting and loving place.
