Focus: HOPE is made up of a lot of people, but most of the people who work in the office with me are quite a bit older. Other than that, they have a lot of young interns who come for the summer. While everyone is nice, it’s mostly the younger people who have more conversations with us. They seem more eager and excited, but the people who have been there longer know more about one another. They are the ones who know everything about the community and know precisely who to talk to in each department for each specific task. Despite all the things that are constantly going on at Focus: HOPE, the office is usually pretty quiet.
At the same time, everyone is very polite and connected. They sometimes call even the people they know well by Miss or Mr. and they always say hi to one another whenever they first come into work. They ask about their weekend plans and talk about the events and people in each other’s lives. They all truly care about the community they are working with and find ways to give back to the community even outside of their work hours. They run community gardens and set up Little Free Libraries in their yards. It’s nice to work somewhere where everyone is so committed to the work they are doing.
