The DCFC game has definitely been the most fun thing I’ve been able to do during the program that wasn’t at my placement. I’ve always loved soccer but never realized Detroit had such an exciting soccer scene. I really enjoyed being able to spend time with fellow DCBRPs because I typically have to spend most of my time studying :((. The game had such a welcoming atmosphere, people of all ages and from all backgrounds joined together to cheer the team on. I think my experience at the DCFC game is kinda a metaphor for my overall experience in Detroit this summer. Over the past weeks I’ve been opened up to so many different and new things Detroit has to offer, even though I’ve lived so close to the city all of my life there are so many opportunities and cool things to do in the city that I’ve never taken advantage of. The welcoming atmosphere of the game is also something I’ve seen during the program at large, especially at my placement I’ve felt completely comfortable and welcome since the beginning. This entire program has been great, and the DCFC game is just one of my favorite moments.
