I honestly can say that I got what I expected from the program. I got to meet people from inside and outside the city that were interested in the path that Detroit was going under. Furthermore, my placement was great! The people I work with are passionate, hard-working people who care about the Southwest Detroit neighborhoods. When I was beginning the process to become a DCBRPer, I had high hopes that the work I would do would make a difference in how the neighborhood develops. I think I did. However, I think that’s only because I know where I played a part. I think that is what I gained the most from the experience, is being able to be happy with the small changes you can create.
