This article is about the drainage fee/tax that residents are charged. One important fact the is included is the fact that the city is already “entrenched with water affordability issues.” The more I learn about Detroit the more visceral its amounting issues are and how the only people that really feel them are the residents. The documentary that we watched at Brilliant Detroit hit the nail on the head at the end when the gentleman at the end explained that people are concerned about where they’re going to get their next meal from and don’t really have time to delegate towards the problems leaders are forcing them to pay for, rather than taxing big corporations. However, this is not to say that residents are helpless and uninformed in the matter either. I think that it is really awesome to see them fighting back and getting these issues in the pubic eye.
